No, you’ll have to bring more earthly equipment, such as:
- Light two-handed rod size 11-13 feet #7/8 or 8/9
- Single-hand rod for wet and dry fly fishing size 9-11 feet #7/8
Lines: you will need floating lines for both sizes of rods and it is always a good idea to bring a sink-tip line if you are fishing in very early June or very late September. The water can be higher in the spring and colder in the fall.
After many years of fishing in Gaspe, my personnel equipment for the rivers has always been the following:
- Two-handed rod - Zpey Infinity 12'6 feet #7/8 (rec.wt 21 grams). This size covers all my fishing with swinging wet flies.
A single hand rod - Zpey Switch 1108 11’ #8 (rec.wt 17.5 grams). This rod is a switch rod as it indicates and it can be used as a pure single hand rod or a very, very light two-handed rod. I use this for all my hitch and dry fly fishing, and it is also excellent for fishing a wet fly. If I could only bring one rod with me anywhere in the world for salmon or sea trout fishing then this rod would always be with me.
